I signed up, bought a premium theme and am wondering how I can set up a shopping cart. How can I set up a shopping cart?

There is only one advertising program called WordAds at WordPress.com and it’s for blogs on their own domains. This is the homepage for the WordAds program: http://www.wordads.co/ There you will find the application page as well as FAQs.
Aside from a blog being accepted into WordAds, no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.com

Many artists find that a post featuring the photo plus mention of the price, a Contact form, and the Paypal Donate button work together well.

I’m creating a wordpress.com website for a journal and want people to be able to buy an annual subscription. I tried pasting PayPal’s “Buy Now” code into my website but it’s not working. The code available is only “website” code and “email” code is not offered- email code is only offered in the “Donate” paypal button. I’m reluctant to use the donation button because I read somewhere that Pay Pal frowns upon using the donation button if you’re not a non-profit organization- do others have that experience? In my case, purchasing an annual subscription to a journal, any recommendations other than the “Donate” button or changing to wordpress.org?

Nobody here has yet had blowback about the Donate button, but it’s something Paypal could get stroppy about if they wanted to.

I’m in the same fix as fotsalot. I don’t want to use a Donate button because it is clearly not a donation whether or not wordpress doesn’t like it. What’s the hangup?

WordPress.COM doesn’t want to enable ecommerce. They want that business to move to WordPress.ORG. Ecommerce hosting is something that people can expect to pay for.

This is not intended as an eCommerce platform. If that’s what you want, get a self-hosted site.

I don’t mind paying. I paid for a theme which is very handy to work with but unusable on a self hosted site. I get it. I got confused because .org is usually a suffix used by non-profit entities. Seems like a lack of flexibility here.

WordPress.ORG is the keepers of the WordPress software – you can have any extension you want (me, .com, .net, .org etc) when you have your own hosting and a WordPress.ORG software install
