Can I share a password protected draft of a blog post?
-
I would like to share an unpublished blog story with a friend. I have created a password for said story. I have attempted to share with shortlink, permalink and by copying URL during preview. No luck. Is it possible to do this? Please advise how.
thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Shannon.
It’s not possible to share a draft of a post with someone who hasn’t been added as an Administrator or an Editor on your blog. If you’d like to share the link, you’ll need to publish the post. As long as it’s password protected, no one else would be able to view it and you could change the publish date when you’re ready to make it public.
Alternatively, if your friend has a WordPress.com account, you could invite them to be an Editor on your site so that they’re able to view the draft. Please note, if you choose to do this then they’ll also have access to other areas of your site. You can check the permissions associated with different user roles here:

okay, thanks.
Couple quick questions based on that input….1. Would an “author” have the ability to SEE an unpublised post I created? And just not edit. OR would they only be able to see posts that were initiated by them?
2. Is there any way to publish the story with a password and NOT have it appear (in this case the top) on the live blog? Like only have access to it if someone sends the link? I didn’t like seeing the big text saying that the story was password protected at the top of my blog. It made me feel like a new user would think the whole blog was for some reason this way. thanks! -

An Author won’t be able to see another user’s draft. They’ll only have access to view published posts and their own drafts, and they’ll also only be able to edit their own posts.

For the purposes of sharing the content of your post, have you considered copying and pasting it into a page? You could then password protect the page and this wouldn’t show up on your blog page.
