Can I somehow obtain the URL of a Blog that has never been used?

  I would love to open up a new blog about travelling. Sadly, the URL I wanted to use already exists. When I took a look at that page, it seemed like it was never used. The first (and only) post is the “Hello World!”-post by WordPress, which is dated back to 2006.

  I tried to get in contact with the owner of this URL over another platform, but there he last was online 3 years ago.

  Is there a way to get this adress? I thought maybe there is a chance, since the blog has never been used.

  There is no expiration date on .wordpress.com blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting, then providing the are agreeable there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

  In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.
