Can I split a blog into parts?

I’d like to divide my blog into two parts. Can I do that either in WordPress, or in the XML code from the archive?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have learned how I could do this by category, but I have hundreds of posts, and I just want to split it chronologically, somewhere near the middle. I’d rather not have to tag a few hundred posts if I can avoid it.

I’m not sure what you are considering. Do you mean that you wish to reorganize your content so it is better structured?

To assign a post to a category, you can use the Bulk Edit feature explained here. I’ve done this with thousands of posts.

You can modify the primary navigation menu of the site to include categories. Go to Appearance > Menus to do so.

As for the chronological split, that makes no sense unless you are using the infinite scroll feature on the front page of the site. You can turn that feature off in the Settings.

If you use the Archives Widget in the sidebar, your content would be accessible by month and year.

In general, people do not read site content chronologically but categorically. I hope this information helps.

Hi, Iorelle, and thanks for the info. I want to split the blog chronologically because I am having the blog printed, and it is too large for them to print in one volume. I quit posting to it in 2009, and it is not going to be updated anymore. I just want to separate it into two approximately equal halves, and then have them printed. Thanks.
