Can I still have a featured image for the home page if I do a gallery style?

  I want to have an image to accompany my blog excerpts on my home page but when I go to gallery when adding images to the post it disappears…help please? maybe I can only do tiles with a featured image?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  We wordpress.com bloggers do not have access to the template files underlying our themes and we cannot edit them, as our blogs share a common architecture, and as all blogs wearing the same theme use the same underlying template, found on the live demo site for each theme.

  WordPress.COM is a multi user blogging platform with off the shelf themes and it’s aimed for use by those who do not code. Each theme is uniquely designed. The way your theme is designed to function and the features it has are found at https://wordpress.com/theme/edin that’s where the live demo site link is also found. We cannot change how any theme functions and if that capability is not found there it does not exist.

  thanks for responding…yes I have been going over all the demos and a lot on the forums and can’t find a yes or no to this particular question. guess I will have to do it with thumbnails instead…thanks anyway

  The answer will be no. Featured images are not galleries. Galleries are created on pages and posts.

  Hi singingformysupper16,

  I want to have an image to accompany my blog excerpts on my home page

  The Edin theme support a featured image for posts and pages — which is displayed with the excerpt on your homepage. I can see you have set those up for Lisbon, Porto and Sintra.

  Galleries for featured images aren’t supported I’m afraid. It’s only possible to add galleries to posts and pages :)

  Thanks for your help I figured out what I was doing wrong. I had put the cursor in the wrong place when I inserted the gallery and it took the place off the featured image. When I placed the cursor lower in the paragraph it worked perfect and the featured image returned and the gallery went where I wanted it.

  Glad to hear you got this sorted, I can see the gallery in your page now :)
