Can I trace who wrote a nasty Comment?

  I got a particularly nasty Comment that needed moderating. I read it and decided not to publish it.
  Question is: From the information provided in the email sent to me apprising me of a new comment to be moderated, can I find out who wrote that Comment? I see a bunch of links but none of them give me any information that would answer my question.

  Short answer: no.

  For a private individual the answer is no. However if the comment were something like a terrorist threat then by subpoenaing ISP records, etc. security services would probably be able to track the computer used to send the threat. I say probably because there are ways of preventing this (TOR, etc.)

  There are, but that doesn’t mean THIS blogger can do it. I don’t think she works for the FBI.
