can I track adwords conversions on a free wordpress.com site?

I am helping a friend with their adwords and I want to add conversion tracking code to their website. They are using a free wordpress.com plan and I am unsure if it is possible to add code to their website. Do they need to upgrade their plan or switch to wordpress.org to do this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi merecam

To get the code you must be subscribed to premium or business plan.
for more details on this please refer to the below link.

    Hope this helps you.

  • Hi there,

That depends on how the tracking code is added to your site. If Adwords use a meta-tag like Google’s Search Console, you should be able to add it to the site at My Site ->Settings ->Traffic.

Else, please provide me more info on exactly what Google wants you to add and I’ll be happy to take a look.

AdWords is used to advertise your site via Google, and there’s no reason the owner of a free site shouldn’t also be able to do this. They just won’t get a free credit like a plan owner. The page you linked to is regarding a free credit for AdWords that’s included in the Premium and Business Plans, i.e. if someone signs up for those plans they get a discount from Google for using that service.
