can i transfer registration of a domain to wordpress?

  I’ve looked at how to use mapping to point my new wordpress account to http://www.aimeesroom.com which is registered and hosted with WIX.

  is there an option to transfer the domain directly to wordpress? so wordpress is the domain registrar? why would i have to move to a third party like go daddy?

  i opened a wordpress site simultaneously at http://www.beckypiscitelli.com and wordpress registered that domain for me, is there a reason http://www.aimeesroom.com cannot be registered by wordpress?

  Hello there!

  While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at your current registrar.

  You can use your existing domain with your WordPress.com site by mapping the domain, as explained here:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  In order to map your WordPress.com site with your Wix domain, you should change your name servers to:
  ns1.wordpress.com
  ns2.wordpress.com
  ns3.wordpress.com
