Can I undo the migration of my followers from wordpress.com to a self-hosted blog?

  I’m in the process of migrating my blog to a self-hosted site and, in my over-excitement, migrated my followers to the new blog without informing them. Stupid, I know :( I’d like to return them to my wordpress.com blog first, so I could ask them to subscribe to the new blog by email and continue getting notifications. I was wondering if this is possible? Thanks so much!

  Hi Julia,

  It certainly can be done, but so you’re aware the migration process doesn’t duplicate their subscription. We really do move their subscription over to your new blog, so they are only subscribed to one blog of yours. If you would like to continue with this plan you absolutely can, and I can move your followers back to WordPress.com, but really if you’re sure that you want to move once and for all to WordPress.org then you should be fine and your followers may want to be migrated.

  Thanks for the response! I understand that they can’t be duplicated if you return them from .org to .com. But it would still be possible in the very distant future to transfer them again from .com to .org right? Right now though I just want followers in .com, and it would be awesome if you could move them back since the other site is really not ready yet hehe. So yes please, go ahead in bringing them back to wanderingjulia.wordpress.com :) Let me know how jt goes also. Thank you!!

  Hi Julia,

  OK, you’re all set! Your followers have been moved back to your WordPress.com site. Whenever you’re ready to move them back to WordPress.org you can just move them yourself or reach out to us and we can take care of it for you.

  Remember that it can take a few minutes for your followers to appear in your stats, but they should show up soon.
