Can I update my current blog to own my domain name?

  Hi There,

  i am just reading some advise about wordpress and it says its best to own your domain name. I have been using a free blog by wordpress but would ideally like to own Hollybees.com as I have been advised this gives me more options… please can you let me know how to go about upgrading my blog and also if this will enable me to have more options on its layout?
