Can I upgrade without changing the URL?

    Hello,

    I’m starting my new website https://cirujanosplasticoscercademi.wordpress.com/

    I would like to install some plugins, but it says that it requires updating to a paid plan.

    However, when paying, it says that the New URL will be:

    https://cirujanosplasticoscercademi.wpcomstaging.com

    I just want to keep the subdomain on wordpress.com

    Can I upgrade to a paid plan, maintaining my WordPress subdomain?

    Hello @lionguemez,

    If you are upgrading to a Business plan, it will use a .wpcomstaging.com address instead of .wordpress.com. This doesn’t mean it’s a staging (test) site — it’s simply a temporary address until you connect your own domain.

    The .wpcomstaging.com address is fixed and can’t be changed. To use a custom domain, you’ll need to register, connect, or transfer one to your site. If you’ve already added a domain but still see the staging address, just set your domain as the primary address.

    Reverting to a .wordpress.com address isn’t possible unless you downgrade your plan. However, visitors to the old address will automatically be redirected to your current one.

    If you have a plugin-enabled site, it will change an .wpcomstaging.com address instead of a .wordpress.com address.
    The .wpcomstaging.com address you saw is just a temporary staging URL used behind the scenes when setting up a Business plan site.The wpcomstaging address is fixed and cannot itself be changed. However, you can add a custom domain and make it your primary address.

    With the Business plan, you’ll also get access to install plugins, upload custom themes, use advanced SEO tools, and more. Plus, the plan includes a free custom domain (like cirujanosplasticoscercademi.com) for your first year — though using the subdomain is totally fine if you prefer that.
