Can I upload a theme that I find online?

  So my friend is using a theme that is not on wordpress. The theme is AMAZING. I have to upload it though, and can’t figure out how to do it. Can someone enlighten me?

  No. A theme can’t be uploaded and installed on a WordPress.com hosted site. However, there are a lot of themes already available that you can activate: https://theme.wordpress.com/

  If you really want to use that other theme (and it’s for WordPress), you’d need to register a domain, buy hosting, and set up your site using the free software from WordPress.org: https://wordpress.org/
