HTML cn be pasted into text widgets, but new widgets can not be uploaded (to use the OP’s term) as is possible with self-hosted blogs.
-
I just tried to upload the widget code for last.fm which would/ should show my iTunes playlist into the mentioned Text widget. But all I got was the code posted to the site?
According to Last.fm their widget is compatible with wordpress…………out,

Last fm’s widget is not compatible with wordpress.COM. It is flash and/or javascript which is not allowed here due to security concerns. It is compatible with self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.
See the stick post at the top of the main forum page for the differences between wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG.
-
Well someone should let Last FM know that they are misleading people than!
Thanx for the input “thesacredpath”………… Is there anything that will work with wordpress.com and my itunes to display what I’m listening to real time?out,
t -
Agreed, but Last.fm aren’t the only ones, it’s that way most places.
Anything where the goal is dynamic updating requires javascript or some other scripting language, and thus can be a security issue.
You might take a look at the two referenced blog posts in this thread (toward the end) and give those a try. I tried at one time and it was a little clunky.
-
Yes, I was reading those also. I might try them?
It’s not that important in the grand scheme I guess……. thanx!out,

Ah see this one works fine:
http://thepriceoflove.net/2008/05/11/how-to-add-music-playlists-in-wordpresscom-using-lastfm-and-playlistcom/Now my next problem is when I add this widget to my Sidebar. Everything else I had there (pages) go away?
How do I make the widget play nice with anything else I have in my sidebar?
I live here btw:

If you have not yet actually added a widget to the sidebar, then what you are seeing is just a sample display created by the theme. That sample display will disappear when you add a widget. Just drag and drop the other widgets that you want nto the sidebar and arrange them as you wish.
-
Nope when I add the widget to the sidebar and then go check my page. I see the widget displayed correctly as it should but all my other info has disappeared?
I’ll reload the widget now so you can see what I’m blathering about.
thanxout,

I have the widget running now. As you can see everything I had previous in my sidebar is now gone?
If I take that widget out of the sidebar all the other info will return however?

That was a sample display of widgets that disappear once you actually manually add a widget to the sidebar. It is there so you can see what the theme will look like with widgets.
Go to appearance > widgets and drag and drop the other widgets that you want in the sidebar into the sidebar.

AHA!!
Finally I gotcha! Man, I’m sorry for being a tool on this one.
DUH, sometimes the light bulb takes awhile to turn on.Thank you for your patience!
