The first is flash which is not allowed due to security concerns:
The second, I don’t think will work in that form, but I think this would get you where you want to be:
Listen to Jon Hansen<br /><a href="http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Jon-Hansen"><img class="alignnone" title="hansen" src="http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Jon-Hansen/LivePlayerButton.gif" alt="" width="160" height="80" /></a><br />on Blog Talk RadioPaste that into a text widget and see if it doesn’t get you what you want.

Thank you, I will give it a try and let you know.
If in some way I can be of any service, or if you have a blog let me know I would be more than happy to share it with my network.

Hi – quick questions:
I would like to post two widgets to my blog. One is from linkreferrel.com and the other is to my amazon store. I have the widget html but can’t figure out how to put them on. There doesn’t seem to be an ‘add widget’ area. Any thoughts. Also, someone mentioned self-hosted blogs. I use the computer at work to update my blog – do I have to download the software to my computer or is it contained with webpress and I can just use it somehow. (I’m not very IT knowledgeable).
Thanks for your help. Would you email me your answer if you have a moment?

Don’t post your email in a forum. None of the volunteers will email you, but hundreds of spammers will. Volunteers answer questions in the forum.
The site linked to your name is not a WordPress.com blog and we won’t be able to help you with that. If you have a blog, please give us the URL starting with http. We can’t answer questions without a look at the blog.
This explains the difference between the two types of WordPress.

I would like to add a new widget to my foodblog, but i have no clue how to go about it..I have the HTML code, but where do i paste it…please help. Clueless about what to do

The code has to be pure HTML. If you look at the code and see “flash” or “javascript” or “script” or “iframe” then those are not allowed due to security concerns.
You put code into a text widget http://support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/
