Can I use a blog as a sort of diary?

I am 65 and have not kept up with computer things since we invented the C++ and I could see that people now could envision what the computer was capable of doing – since is was in school learning code and writing the same things over and over again rather than creating blocks of code that could be assembled to get to the point faster.

That being said, I now have decided to familiarize myself with some of the newer things such as Blogs. I am thinking, at this point, that I just want a place to put things my grandchildren can laugh at when they show their kids how archaic our thinking was as well as show them who I am or was ;-) Is using a blog not what I should be using for something like this or is there a better way than just downloading to discs once I have something to add that I think they may find interesting in the future? I am not really interested in sharing with people at this time or at least not everything anyway. Some things I do not want revealed until after I am dead. Other things might just be short stories or diaries I might want to save.
Please let me know if I am using the wrong method to do this or if there is a better way for me to accomplish my stated goal.
    Thanks much,

    Phil Kraker

    Hi Phil,

Creating a Blog is a brilliant idea. There are several tools to help you to keep your stories secret.

The reason is that WordPress.com allows you to make your site private:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

If you wish, there is also the possibility to make specific posts private:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-visibility/

    Happy blogging!
