Can I use a listserv address to invite contributors?

I have created a private blog (http://loveitshoveit3015.wordpress.com/) to use in my class. I need to invite all the students to join it as contributors. Can I use the class list-serv mailing list to send out invites? or do I need to invite each person individually?

If you’d like to invite others to publish posts or help approve comments on your blog, you can invite them to be a Contributor, Editor, or Author http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ on your blog by following this guide. http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/ To prevent spammers from doing their dirty work you can only send out 10 invitations at a time and then wait and send out 10 more.

this is not really responsive.
I’ve looked through the documentation and understand how to add individual users. I am asking if I can send an invitation to a listserv address; the listserv has about 40 members, but if I can use it, I will send ONE invitation, to the group address.
Please respond to this question.

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you’re telling me. I have read this documentation, and I understand I can only enter ten people’s names/addresses at a time. I am asking you if I can enter a listserv address— yes, more than ten people, but through ONE address– to CONTRIBUTE to a private blog.
If I enter a listserv address, will the invitation be distributed to all the people on the list, or must I enter individual addresses for each would-be contributor?

Here is the answer: No.
Because the posting permissions are tied to the individual log-ins, and the log-ins are tied to emails, if you Invite the listserv, only the administrator of the Listserv will be able to post.
You will need to invite them individually.
