Can I use an used (but dead) domain name?

  Hi, I want to start a blog with the name carbon copy, but there is already a wordpress site with that name. However, when I go to it I see it has been inactive for over 8 years and was never used in the first place. Can I obtain access to that domain? Thanks!

  Hi runborg,

  You would need to reach out directly to the blog owner of the unused WordPress.com domain. They would have to be willing to transfer the site to you.
