  • Hello –

Thanks for getting in touch. What we do here at WordPress.com is offer a managed hosting environment for WordPress sites.

Yes, you can use WordPress for free and publish for free. However, in order to use your domain as the primary address (what folks see in their browser bar, on search engines, etc…) that does require an upgraded hosting plan.

This means our team handles every single back end detail that needs attention in order for you to have a site that is high performing and well maintained – these are items like security, seo, spam protection, updates, and technical support. This allows you to focus on the content of the site.

Our hosting plans are visible on https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Those plans can be paid for by the month or by the year. We can also upgrade/downgrade at any point to meet the project needs. Write back with more questions. I’m curious if you have any back up files or export material from the site?
