    Can I use my Phone for SMS verification for two different WordPress accounts?

    I have two different WordPress accounts and I have confirmed and set up one with my Cell as verification, but when I try to add another Wordprss Account, it says it sent the SMS but no SMS comes through. I have tried several times and waited several hours and tried again.

    Please advise.

    Hi there,

    The phone number you use for SMS verification does not need to be unique to the account no. You can use the same number for 2FA for multiple accounts.

    Is it for this account you’re not receiving the SMS? (I notice you currently have 2FA set up with an authenticator app, so you wouldn’t receive an SMS in that case.) If it’s for another account, can you please comment here as that account so we can take a look?

    Aside: I notice you have your 2FA phone number and recovery phone number set to the same number. The recovery number should be something different, e.g. the number of a family member or friend you trust, if you don’t have a second number, as the purpose of that number is to have a backup option should you lose access to the primary number. Same goes for the recovery email (I see that’s also the same as your actual account email).
