Can I use my premium theme on wordpress.com site

  Hi

  I have purchased a premium theme for a new wordpress.org based site. Can I use this theme (Oxford) on my current wordpress.com site? If so how do I set it up please? Thanks..

  Hi John,

  Themes purchased for self-hosted (WordPress.org) sites can’t be used here at WordPress.com. Only themes purchased from the WordPress.com theme showcase can be used on sites here.

  WordPress.com does have a version of the Oxford theme available:

  https://wordpress.com/themes/oxford

  I’d recommend asking for a refund on the WordPress.org theme you purchased, so you can purchase the WordPress.com version for your site here.

  Thanks for taking the time to get back to me and for explaining things so clearly. Does that mean that if I purchased from the wordpress.com site I could use it for wordpress.org site? Thanks..

  Hi John,

  No, there isn’t a way to use WordPress.com premium themes on WordPress.org sites. There are some differences between how they’re made for WordPress.com versus WordPress.org, so the two aren’t compatible. (Sorry for the confusion! I didn’t realize you planned to use it in both places.)

  If you purchase the theme here at WordPress.com and also want to use it on a WordPress.org site, you may want to contact the theme author where you bought the WordPress.org version and see if you can get some kind of discount or refund on the WordPress.org version of the theme.
