  I have a free site. Can I add a simple Paypal pay button to my site?

  Yes, you are able to add a PayPal button to a free site. Instructions to set one up can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/ . The button will redirect to the PayPal payment screen, and the purchase will be completed there.
