Can i use PayPal donation buttons on my non-profit blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to add PayPal buttons to allow donors to donate to our nonprofit organization. The HTML I am adding works until I update the changes. The button disappears on the web page and the HTML language does totally disappear but morphs into something less than what it was:

    Was before Update:
    <form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post"><input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_s-xclick"><input type="hidden" name="hosted_button_id" value="PFFYUD7KY23LS"><input type="image" src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_donate_SM.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/scr/pixel.gif" width="1" height="1"></form>

    Now after Update:
    <img src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/scr/pixel.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1" border="0" />

    Can you help? Thanks!

    Terry

The instructions for unencrypted PayPal donation button we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs are found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/

    Hello,

As per this article, form and input tags are not on the list of allowed HTML tags.

That’s why they’re being stripped out when you update the widget.

Thanks timethief, I didn’t see that article! Should have looked.

I also note that the free hosted WordPress.com blog linked to your username does not have any content aside from a custom header. Is that the blog in question or not?

the blog in question is mealsonwheelserie.org, The “metroeriemealsonwheels” name i show I first opened the account. Actually, I would prefer to have my main site AND my username be the same: mealsonwheelserie I’m not sure how to do this.

Thanks for providing the URL for http://mealsonwheelserie.org/ What I posted above re: an unencrypted PayPal donation button does apply to that blog.

I have a similar problem as there is no option on PayPal to create an email style button as shown in the instructions. In fact the pages in the instructions bear no resemblance at all to what I see after the Merchant Services part.

Is this because it is paypal.com/ie perhaps?

I only have the option to create a donate button.

@grandpadavid: That’s exactly the only button you can use at WordPress.com: donate. Do you not see a Website and an Email tab when you select a donate button there?

Hi, yes the screens are completely different for me to the ones shown in the help, but having got put off at first I went on through and the selection for web or email is actually 4 sections further on! Problem solved eventually!

If anyone can’t see the email part just keep going. It is a tabbed choice at the end AFTER you have entered everything else.
