can I use Press This without Chrome?
-
I would like to install the Press This app, but I don’t have a bookmark bar anywhere on my browser…do I have to have Google Chrome as my web browser…..can I use this app on internet explorer?
Please advise
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No you do not have to use Chrome. I’m using Firefox 9.0.1 and I avoid using IE browsers as they tend to be problematic. I believe one can use any browser to drag and drop the Press This into the bookmarks/favorites area of your web browser.

to add to what Ytimethief says:
If you wish to add the “bookmarklet” to IE try1.right click on the “Press this!” bookmarklet (found on Dash–>Tools–> Available Tools)
2,And add to your Bookmarks.
3.You will then need to change the name of the new bookmark, it will have a long name, as “bookmarklets”, as they are called are actually tiny java script apps.
That was the old way of doing it.
Hope that works. -
OOPS! I need to add something to that:
0. make sure your bookmarks toolbar is visible
step 2.5 Add the favorite to your “Favorite bar menu”,,,,
That way you will be able to access it.sorry about that, its been a while since I used IE.

when I do this, will Press This give me a “snapshot” of the page I wouldlike to copy or just cut and paste a link to it ?
-
I opened Internet Explorer 8
when I goto to the page
Dash–>Tools–> Available Toolsright click on the “press This!”
I actually get instructions:“If your bookmarks toolbar is hidden: copy the code below, open your Bookmarks manager, create new bookmark, type Press This into the name field and paste the code into the URL field.”
javascript:var d=document,w=window,e=w.getSelection,k=d.getSelection,x=d.selection,s=(e?e():(k)?k():(x?x.createRange().text:0)),f='http://cafedog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/press-this.php',l=d.location,e=encodeURIComponent,u=f+'?u='+e(l.href)+'&t='+e(d.title)+'&s='+e(s)+'&v=4';a=function(){if(!w.open(u,'t','toolbar=0,resizable=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,width=720,height=570'))l.href=u;};if (/Firefox/.test(navigator.userAgent)) setTimeout(a, 0); else a();void(0)These are one set of instructions for adding the bookmarklet to IE.
I don’t why you you have a snapshot, it may be an IE add-on.

Ok cool,
You can just copy the code above in the gray.
your Bookmarks manager
create new bookmark,
type “Press” This into the name field
and paste the code into the URL field
— Those are the instruction from WordPress.com

WordPress just introduced an extension for Chrome that has some nice features including built-in Press This. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/official-chrome-extension-for-wordpresscom?replies=1
