Can I use Themify Ultra theme with WordPress Premium plan at WordPress.com?

    Can I use Themify Ultra theme with WordPress Premium plan at WordPress.com? I think having my client’s site hosted at WordPress.com is a good idea. But I need to be able to use a Themify theme, most probably Ultra. If I can’t do this, WordPress.com doesn’t appear to be the place to host the site.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi nmscoble,

    Third party themes like Themify Ultra can only be installed on WordPress.com site using the Business plan — so you will need to upgrade first.

    Hi gemmacevans,

    Thank you for your reply letting me know one needs the Business plan if one wishes to use a non-WordPress theme. The ‘Premium’ plan is what would be most appropriate for my client.

    May I ask you if you can recommend one or two hosting providers? I know of InMotion Hosting in Los Angeles, and of SiteGround. But I have read that SiteGround is more-geared to code developers than ‘newbies’.

    I absolutely do not bill myself as a coder. I’m an experienced graphic designer wishing to build an attractive portfolio-and-blog site for my client that has all the customer support and ease of updating that WordPress.com has.

    Would my client and I still do all right at SiteGround, or is there a hosting provider that is more appropriate?

    I think it’s unfair to expect a member of staff at WordPress.com to recommend rival companies. Naturally they’d like to think that the choice of free and Premium themes right here at WordPress.com satisfies most people’s requirements. Any limits to the choice of themes at WordPress.com is made up for by the advantages of ease of use/security/backups/support etc in my opinion.

    For folks who don’t need our site management or staff support, WordPress.org is a fine choice, and our recommended hosts will always be listed there.
