can I use this photo from the BBC

Hi. There’s a lovely photo on the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/7865153.stm about London’s snow. As its big news here right now with loads of better photos than I could take, can I put it on my website with acknowledgements to the BBC. I can’t really understand their copyright policy. I think its OK cos its only for my personal use on my blog which is a personal blog or am I mistaken? Thanks in advance. http://cyclenewbie.wordpress.com/

    From their TOS:

You may not copy, reproduce, republish, disassemble, decompile, reverse engineer, download, post, broadcast, transmit, make available to the public, or otherwise use bbc.co.uk content in any way except for your own personal, non-commercial use. You also agree not to adapt, alter or create a derivative work from any bbc.co.uk content except for your own personal, non-commercial use. Any other use of bbc.co.uk content requires the prior written permission of the BBC.

So, I think it’s fine. But don’t hotlink and do give credit.

I thought as much but I just wanted to be absolutely sure. Thanks very much. I appreciate it.

It’s a pretty enlightened policy, actually. Too bad more of their photos aren’t top quality.
