Can It Be Done on WP.com Without Code?

    Hi everyone!

I am hoping to setup a website that will look very much like cmdamemphis.org. Since I already have two WP.com blogs (medicaltransformation.com; transforminghealthcare.wordpress.com), I’d like to stay with WP.com.

My questions relate to whether I can get the functionality I’d like without using/knowing code. (I am willing to spend a little time learning a few things if necessary, though). It’s important to me to be able to update all parts of the site by myself without a lot of time since that’s in short supply. Here are my specific questions:

    Without code, can I add/include:

    1 – a picture slider?

    2 – videos?

    3 – donation links? (very important – we’re a ministry)

    4 – easy connection to my newsletters/blogs?

5 – anything else on the cmdamemphis.org site you see that would require code / be difficult?

I’m a novice with this, so your help is invaluable – thanks a million!

    Bryan

    1. Yes, you can use the slideshow feature on all themes here and put them in pages or posts.

    2. WordPress supports a bunch of different video sharing sites such as youtube, vimeo, vodpod, dailymotion, flickr and more that can be done via simple shortcodes in pages and posts. If you want to upload your own videos to your media library here then you would need to buy the VideoPress upgrade, but the other supported video services you can do for free.

    3. Yes, you can use the paypal donation button to do this.

    4. You can create a custom contact form for your newsletter signup and include it in a separate page, or even in a text widget in the sidebar.

    5. The upcoming events thing is not something that could be done automatically. It would require the use of a text widget and then you would have to edit and update it manually as events passed and as you added new events.

Upcoming events: Definitely do-able with Google calendar

@Jennifer, thanks for picking that up. I had forgotten about that.
