Can l be stretched?
-
l just have a little nagging question that l’ve wanted to know the answer to for yonks but have been too chicken to ask.
l’ll ask now but please keep in mind a dear friend helped me open my blog and did all the settings. They only told me one rule ‘Don’t touch anything in settings’ incase l broke anything (which has happened in the past). Friend wrote out a dummy sheet for me with ‘how to make a post’ and ‘how to make a new page’. That’s all l know in the world of blogging. My blog is using the Mistylook theme which is neat, clean and loads fast for my rural dial up friends.
But there seems to be a bar of blank space on either side of the writing panel. Can this blank space be squished to make the writing panel wider? Is it do-able? Or does this rank as one of those ‘silly questions that dumb folk ask?’Could a wise gentle soul please let me know the answer?

What your asking would require the CSS upgrade I recommend Knowing how to write CSS before buying the upgrade because there is NO official support For CSS here at WP.com

Erm….can you explain what you said in layman’s terms? What is CSS and do l have it?
*blushes *

If I understand you, you’re writing about the margins (there’s probably a more precise term) that appear on your site. (On my site, they are greyish. On the sacredpath’s site they are teal colored. Is that what you are asking about?) They are part of the design of the theme you chose, so you cannot change them, except maybe if you know CSS. If your friend has advised you to not even touch the settings (but I think you should over time to learn and take advantage of all that is offered), I think you should not try CSS just yet (I have not either).

Hello there
Yes – that’s what l mean, the margins.
Sounds like something l might best leave alone then. It’s not really annoying me to the stage l can’t sleep, just thought if they could be stretched simply then l’d do it.
Thankyou all above for your replies. l will no longer wonder! -
Dear Morganofhercall:
I have been advised that one should not get the css option unless one knows about css (which I do not). However, it is a good idea to start learning html. I am just starting, and what little I do know has helped me to skip lines when in the past, those lines just would not skip. Little things like that.
HTML (hypertext markup language) is what makes bolded out letters, italics, underlines, plus the things that are not in the usual toolbox for you to click.
