Can late fee be waived?
-
I was about to post my latest blog when I was informed about my renewal. I can’t believe the late fee is so much higher than the monthly fee itself. I was not expecting this. I would have gladly paid the $26 on October 25. Why didn’t I get a reminder in my e-mail? I don’t think it’s fair charging more than free times a late fee than a whole years worth of membership. Since this is such a complete shock to me, I ask that you would please, as a Thanksgiving or Christmas gift, waive the late fee. I have never seen a late fee be higher than the premium cost of anything in my 38 years of living. Please give me another chance. I so need it. It has not even been a month. I cannot afford that $80. There is no such late fee with any other service anywhere!

HI there,
I’m glad to see you were able to redeem your domain name. It had expired a month ago on October 25, 2014. It is not always possible to redeem a domain after it’s not been renewed.
Several emails were sent out informing you of the upcoming expiration. You may want to check out the administrative email address you have set for your account, as all notifications were sent to that address. You can do that here:
https://journeywithmercy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=grofiles-user-settings
Scroll down to Account Settings and make sure your contact information is correct.
If your email is correct for your WordPress.com account, you may want to check your settings for your email provider and see why those emails didn’t appear as expected.
The late renewal fee of $80 is charged by the domain registry, not WordPress.com, and is not one which we can waive or refund.
I see that you’ve now setup auto renew for your domain, which will help you avoid this inconvenience in the future.
Please do let me know if I can answer any other questions or concerns. Thanks much.
