Can log into my blog but not to WordPress.com

  The user-name and/or password, valid and perfectly functioning on my blog, won’t let me log into WordPress.com (I registered with another e-mail I have in order to access these forums specially for this issue). I get an error message telling me not use my blog account info but my WordPress account. I thought it was the same – evidently not.

  I’ve checked the e-mail account used to set up the blog, but I can’t find any trace of a WordPress specific username.

  I really don’t want to risk getting locked out of my blog because I’ve been daft enough to misplace the WordPress.com account info – I noticed that to re-set these two items I’d have to supply a lot of identifying information, such as ‘transaction I.D.’ – I have no idea what that might refer to – I set up my blog through Hostgator, and I’m pretty sure all the transacting went through them. Even if I’m remembering incorrectly…if I can’t log in, how would I be able to access that sort of information?

  Hope someone can help me – I wanted to activate the Jetpack plugin on my blog.

  Hello! WordPress.com accounts are different from the account you use to sign into your Hostgator account. It sounds like you have another WordPress.com account you’d like to regain access to. Can you tell me the username or email address associated with that account?
