Can *long* Blogger URLS be redirected to WP?
-
I’ve recently moved to WP from blogger…paid for domain mapping for my custom domain, etc. All is good.
However, there are now 2 versions of every archived blog posting (4.5 years’ worth) stored in 2 places, with 2 different URLS.
For example, both of these URLS point to the same posting:
http://businessethicsblog.com/2010/03/18/the-ethics-of-selling-less/ [that’s the WP version]
and
http://www.businessethics.ca/blog/2010/03/ethics-of-selling-less.html [that’s the Blogger version, hosted on Freeservers]I could of course just *delete* my Freeservers account, and the duplication would disappear. But then any links to specific blog entries (using the blogger-style URL) will go dead.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If there were a redirect possible, it would have to be on the blogger end of things, and the other thing you should consider is that having duplicate content on the web will cause the search engine ranking for both blogs to be reduced. This is because the search engines see duplicate content as a possible splogger thing (spam blogger) and since they have no idea which is the original, the just take a whack at all.
You will have to check over at blogger to see if there is some sort of redirect possible. From the differences in the URL’s, it would appear as if you would have to create a separate redirect for every single post (blogger does not include the day, just the year and month in their URL’s. With 450 posts, that is a big job.
