Can my blog be found on the internet without my own domain?
-
I’m new to blogging and I tried looking for myself on the internet but I couldn’t find my blog. Can only your Facebook and Twitter friends see your blog? Do you have to have a domain to be seen on something like a google search? Any information would be great.
Many thanks

Yes is the answer to your question. Your blog visibility is public and it can be viewed by everyone with internet access. To verify blog ownership of a WordPress.com blog with the major search engines you must use this process > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don’t feel panicky about this please.Note also that WordPress.com automatically supplies sitemaps for our blogs to search engines – we do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines
It takes weeks for search engines to index content in a new blog and/or to re-index content under a new URL. What attracts search engines is unique content the cannot in posts that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. Start now publishing original content posts frequently two or even three times weekly. For more information read > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/
Lastly note that we cannot assist with search engine issues. They are between the blogger and the search engine. http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

yes your blog can be found – however – it takes 4 to 6 weeks for a new site to be indexed by search engines and that is only if you have something worth indexing. It is not necessary to register your site since when you make a new Post your site notifies search engines that you have new content
