Can my domain be mapped after deletion from the old registrar?

    Hello awesome support staff,

My site is thesnsnightlife.wordpress.com. I am trying to map my domain, thesnsnightlife.com so I don’t lose my 15K followers. I deleted it completely from its old registrar blog.com so its no longer mapped there. It’s still not mapping here though and appears to be lost in cyberspace. Can you guys fix this or will I have to choose another domain name completely?

It looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet. Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

For more information, please visit the help documentation provided by the registrar and our support page:

Thanks for the fast response. Blog.com does not let us make DNS changes from the control panel and support staff doesn’t answer questions. Thats why I just deleted it hoping that would help.

The domain seems to be still active. Note that if you cancel a domain it means you completely give up ownership of it and it can take up to 35 days before it will become available to register somewhere.

I’d suggest to contact the blog.com once more to help you change the name server records, so the domain points to your WordPress.com blog.

Otherwise feel free to register a new domain at Store > Domains on your WordPress.com blog’s dashboard.
