Can my PAGES be grouped?

  • Unknown's avatar

My theme is CHATEAU. Topic is about PAGES.

is it possible to categorize my Pages such that I have a group of Pages that are all together?

I want to make a sidebar button link that says something like “Thought of the Day” and I want to link to a Page with, well, a thought.

I want to be able to have all those daily thoughts in a group by themselves and not have them scattered throughout the Pages page in a regular alphabetized list.

    Is that possible in Chateau?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

OK, I figured it out. I was originally looking at that page of pages in the Dashboard wondering if I could somehow categorize them there. Now I see that I can just make one Parent Page called THOUGHT OF THE DAY and then subsequently add sub-pages of thought of the day.

Just like Menus in the Header.

To further clarify: I wanted to make one button link in my sidebar that says, for example, THOUGHT OF THE DAY. I do not want to put it up there in the header with the other tabs where it can get lost since unfortunately, Chateau makes the Page Tags pretty much disappear from view.

So I envision people coming to my blog, seeing THOUGHT OF THE DAY in the Sidebar, clicking that button, and then getting directed to the latest thought of the day.

I realize that they would also be in the Pages in the Footer unless I hide them and don’t put them in the sidebar at all.

You could make a second custom menu for those pages and then use he custom menu widget. The subpages would be hierarchical (indented below the parent) in the menu.

    Hi SacredPath —
OK. I think I will do that. I will have to sit and figure it out. I noticed just now that Chateau has three Custom Menus, so I can do it.

Thank you. I am trying to use the full potential of my blog template; ideas are coming to me now and again and I can see how really powerful a blog can be — even like a website with pages.

Thanks for the Heads Up on the second custom menu. I would not have thought of that, sadly.

You are welcome, and the second custom menu you create just the same. After created and saved, then you add the custom menu widget to the sidebar and inside that widget is a pulldown where you select the custom menu you made to use in that widget.
