Can not access domain contact information
-
I was just made the owner of an existing blog that has a domain name registered through WordPress.com. It does not seem to be possible to access the Domain Administrator control panel. When I click on “Manage Subscriptions” and then “Domain Settings”, all it does is kick me back in a circle to the My Domains page. How do I obtain access so that I can update the contact information and domain ownership?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ok, since there has been no answer to this thread and I don’t know the answer, I’ll tag this thread for staff attention.
-
Every blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the username account who registered the blog under that username account.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased the upgrades for the blog at > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades
Are you still in contact with the user who’s account these upgrades are under? I’m asking because they need to transfer the upgrades to your account.

The only one that can manage the Upgrades is the account that owns the upgrades, normally that is the account that bought the upgrades originally. The upgrade owner can transfer the upgrades to another account if they want.
You need to have the owner of the upgrades to transfer them to you. They can go to
Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades and click on the “Transfer” option and follow the directions, once transferred you can then renew and manage them.
The blog can be transferred to you by the owner if they go to
Dashboard >> My Blogs and again click on “Transfer”
If the blog / Upgrades owner has a problem they can have the staff transfer things to your account. In that case they need to log into this thread as the account and using small clear words – ask the staff to transfer Upgrade-1 from account-A to Account-zzzz

Thank you for the suggestions and assistance.
When the former blog owner transferred ownership of the blog to me, it looks like the domain name “upgrade” went with it. When I go to Dashboard>Store>My Upgrades, the domain name is indeed listed in the Product column, and under Subscription Status there is an option to Transfer to Another Site, which also confirms to me that I must be the “owner” as far as WordPress goes. However, when I click on Domain Settings it just sends me in a circle–Manage Domain Subscriptions goes back to the My Upgrades page, and Manage DNS gives no access to update Contact information. When I check Whois, it lists the former owner still as the Contact person for the domain.
It seems like this is really a staff issue to resolve, however it looks like WordPress tries as hard as possible to send you to the forum and not be able to contact staff directly. But I’m new to this site, so maybe I’m just not used to how support is meant to work here.
Thanks, Adam -
The forum here tends to be quicker than going to the staff – but the staff are the only ones that can see who owns what

So since bobdavcav added the tag “modlook”, do I just wait until a moderator responds, or should I write to support@wordpress.com?
-
You can wait here or you can email support – if you email please reference this thread in the email to reduce duplicate efforts
-
OK, this is getting really frustrating. Ownership of the blog and domain was transferred to me on March 1, I started this support topic on March 3, and no response from staff. I emailed support, no response–not even an automatic ticket number. If I want to update domain contact info at Go Daddy, it takes me 5 minutes. WordPress doesn’t have a phone number with a live person and seems to have zero customer support. I still do not have access to the Domain Administration panel and the contacts have not been updated. It seems as a domain reseller they aren’t functioning as they should. I’ve complained to Wild West Domains, and I’m hoping that I can get staff here to respond.

Is this domain about to expire? If not please be patient. It looks like staff is about 4 days behind right now, so they will get to this provided there aren’t any more posts in this thread.

@adam5532
Emailing support means it takes longer to get an answer than posting to the support forums does. Please do only one or the other.Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in order of datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.
Don’t bump your threads because it’s not in your best interest to post to them after they have been tagged for Staff help. When bloggers keep bumping any thread thinking they are going to get service from Staff more quickly they aren’t thinking straight because that moves the timestamps forward and it takes longer to get a response. The same is true if you email more than once the date moves forward and it takes longer to get help.
Bottom line: Patience is virtue.

That’s a good link to have to see if I can help people who haven’t had an answer to their threads, but what was I supposed to see from it in this case?
-
That link is only to the 1 week old with no answer threads. If you go back further and note there are more pages. Volunteers can answer threads in any order they want but what happens here is a blogger arrives on the front page of the forum to help and starts answering the most recent threads posted. Or the go here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/view/no-replies and start answering the most recent threads they find on that page. IMNHO that proves to be completely unfair to those who posted their threads first. I work the back pages and when I complete one of those threads if there’s a front page forum thread unanswered I quickly answer it too and then go back to the back pages.

Hi,
I am in contact with Marjorie in support, so I can close this post. It isn’t quite resolved yet, but after being bounced back and forth twice between Wild West Domains and WordPress, now they say that it was registered through another reseller. So, I’m working on that. The WordPress domain area in the Store/Upgrades area could use some improvement–it is quite unclear and sends you in circles. Thanks all for your help and patience.
Thanks,
Adam
