  • Hi there,

I’ve taken the time to look into your website and noticed that it’s actually using the WordPress.org software and is hosted by a different provider.

WordPress.org is the same foundational software we use here at WordPress.com, but it’s set up a little differently. Because of this, the specific help you may need can be different. To get the most appropriate help for your issue, I’d recommend posting your question in the official WordPress.org support forums, which you can find here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.

That said, I would also like to mention an alternative for you. You can migrate your website to WordPress.com. We are a managed-hosting platform, which means we take care of all the maintenance and security tasks so that you can focus on creating content for your website. We also offer dedicated WordPress support through both email and live chat to ensure your questions or issues are handled promptly and efficiently.

If this sounds like something that could interest you, we’ve built an easy-to-use tool specifically for migrating WordPress sites from other platforms to WordPress.com. You can learn more about how to use this tool here: https://wordpress.com/support/import-using-move-to-wordpress-com/

You can also take a look at our various plans and what they offer on this page: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

If you have any other questions or if there’s anything else you’d like to discuss, don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Sorry just seeing this now.

This (.org vs .com) has always confused me. I thought I was on WordPress.com because when I’m in my admin screen and go to the Jetpack tap and choose “Subscribers” (for example) it reverts me to a WordPress.com admin page.

Yes I do go through Bluehost for this.

Can you elaborate further, I am very interested in simplifying this and getting the support I need.

  • Hi @btaler, no worries; I understand the confusion.

If it helps, Jetpack has basically been “several of the services that are included on WordPress.com, but for individual WordPress.org installations.” Depending on what plan you’re using, you get our CDN, backups, rewind, Akismet spam blocking, etc. It’s helped folks who migrate their sites from WordPress.com to their own instances so they don’t have to maintain a bunch of random plugins to replace what we have here. Many of Jetpack’s features require a connection to our services.

So that’s why you’re sent to WordPress.com when you view Jetpack Stats in a browser. You should see the same stats through the Jetpack app. Does that help?

For this issue, if you’re getting an error when you add subscribers, can you try searching for it in the forums for Jetpack? You can post there if needed:
    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack

You might also try the Health Check plugin to see if any other plugin is conflicting. Details here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/

    Yes that helps.

So what would be the advantages to me (if any) for migrating my site from Bluehost/Wordpress.org to WordPress.com?

  • Migrating your site to WordPress.com offers several key advantages. As a managed hosting provider, we specialize in WordPress, allowing you to focus solely on creating content for your site. This means you won’t have to worry about the technical aspects of website management, like updates, security, backups, and more.

One of the standout features of WordPress.com is our dedicated support. We offer personalized WordPress support through both live chat and email, ensuring that you have access to expert assistance whenever you need it. This can be incredibly helpful, especially if you encounter any issues or have specific questions about your site.

In summary, by migrating to WordPress.com, you’re not just getting a hosting service; you’re gaining a supportive partner who’ll take care of the technicalities while you concentrate on what you do best – creating content for your audience.

If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

Thank you. I know I get some of this through BlueHost now but the service side of it is what I’m very interested in.

Would the transition be transparent? Would my site look the same? Do you support the Hueman theme etc?

  • Hi there,

Hueman is a WordPress.com theme, so your site can look very similar to how it currently looks on your self-hosted site. We’ll be completely transparent during the process and are here to assist you in every step of the transition. Just let us know if you have any questions, and we’ll be more than willing to help. Thanks!
