Can not add plugin. Want to password protect my site.

  I am running wordpress using Chrome internet browser.
  What I really want to do is to get a password to protect my wordpress blog.
  I found out that I might need a new plugin.
  There should be a button “Add new” at pluginmeny, but there is none.
  How do I add a plugin?
  How do I password protect my blog?

  Hi there, if you are referring to your above site at lillaanna3.wordpress.com your site is marked Private, which means only you and the people you invite, who have to have a WPcom account, can view that site. Casual visitors and search engines cannot. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  Plugins are tools used to extend the functionality of the WordPress platform. However, they are only applicable to self-hosted WP (org) sites. Plugins are not permitted here at WordPress.com for various security reasons.

  Sorry… but we cannot upload custom plugins on WordPress.COM. We are limited to some built-in plugins that come with WordPress.COM.

  Check the list of built-in plugins for the plugin you might be looking for:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

  But, your can request a plugin if you think it’s features are beneficial to the users of WordPress.COM, by posting your plugin idea on the Ideas forum.

  The goal of WordPress.COM is to keep things simple. So that the technical stuffs are handled by WordPress and we focus on creating quality content.

  You can private your entire blog under privacy setting to keep it hidden from public:

  Or you can private or password protect individual posts/pages:

  You can a password Protected Blog and as well as the Content
  Privacy Settings In this document you will find an option to keep you blog Private which could suit you.

  Also you can even Post Visbility as well as Page Visbility

  Depending on your requirement you can choose your options.

  There are no options to add Plugins to WordPress.com , WordPress.com has built-in plugins already
