Can not enable auto update or activate plug in

  My site is connected to Jetpack but when I try to enable auto update or activate a plug in from https://wordpress.com/plugins/manage I get the following messages: 1) An error occurred while enabling autoupdates for Jetpack by WordPress.com on (site name) 2) An error occurred while activating (plug in name) on (site name). I have been able to enable auto updates on 3 other sites. How do I fix these errors?
