Can not load and crop avatar image

When trying to load an image to be used as an avatar, the image loads but the cropping section is stuck ABOVE the image and can be moved around in this area above the image, but not TO the image and the page then is stuck in limbo…

BTW, the image you see above does not show on my OWN blog let alone someone else’s.
I would like to upload my own image, but am not able to do so. -

You can use gimp to re sizethe avatar http://gimp.org

I’ve had no trouble at all, and my current avatar was uploaded as 700×700 or something like that. Occasionally the avatar system needs some farting around with, and you have to click all over the place and try pulling the corners to get it in the right spot. I’ve no idea what causes that, but I’ve seen it with Firefox many times.

It seems to be more problematic lately than usual based on the increased number of people having issues. It may go deeper though since people have also had the same issue with the crop box for custom header images.

Some days it works perfectly, some days I’ll have an entire class who has to futz around for fifteen minutes to get it to work. It’s a peculiar error.

According to the FAQ on avatars, it should be 128x128.That’s if your uploading your avatar via Gravatar
I’ve tried the @ 128×128 while uploading a avatar
via wordpress profile and I had to crop the avatar &
when I upload the avatar @ 100×100 there is no cropping needed -

teck, the profile method blows up your 100×100 to 128×128. It works, but you lose quality. It is best to use 128×128 or higher. I use 128×128 and there is no need to crop.

Ok thanks for some reason I use to have a
problem uploading @128×128 because of cropping reasons
but Just now I uploaded the same avatar @ 128 x128 and
I wasn’t prompt to crop the avatar.Sorry I stand corrected Thanks thesacredpath,beemeister,

I tried changing my avatar earlier today. My new image appeared almost straight away. But as I was unhappy with this new avatar, I tried uploading a few different images since and for some reason it’s just refusing to display those now. And I am now stuck with an avatar that I absolutely hate. Aarrghhh!!! Can anyone out here help please?
