Can not switch off menu for logged-in user

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, I’am unable to get rid of this menu – underlined on picture below. It appears for any logged-in user and offer action as “Edit page”, “Change theme”, “Update visibility”.

Where can I switch it off?

I didn’t find any suitable hint in forum or web.

    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t switch it off. But it only show to you as logged in owner of that site.

    Unfortunately, not only for owner.

When I create a new user with “visitor” privileges, there is the menu as well.

Of course as that’s a user you created yourself. When I visit your site as a logged in wordpress.com account, I don’t see that menu thing.

    Something weird is happening.

I created a new visitor account. After that I started another computer and logged in as this new visitor. Menu is still there:

Till now tested on 3 different computers with OS Linux and Windows, no WP account present. Same result.

    Hello,

You are trying to access your site http://staging-9580-onlinesiticz.wpcomstaging.com/ with the account used to create the site. Try visiting the site with a different account.

Let me know if you have any further queries!

I don’t, I see the menu on different computers as well. On those computers I am only logged in as a regular user. Moreover, on those computers my admin account isn’t even available. Procedure was:

Main computer: I am logged as site admin. I created a new user account. Menu is there.

Secondary computer: On this computer any WP, JP or site account isn’t available. I openned browser, openned my website. I logged in as created regular user, the menu is still there.

Yet another computer: same as secondary computer, menu is still there.

  • Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like the admin toolbar (with options like “Edit page” and “Change theme”) is appearing for users with visitor privileges, which shouldn’t happen. Typically, this toolbar is only visible to site administrators or users with editing permissions.

    Here’s what you can try:

    1. Test with a different browser: Sometimes, browser caching can cause this issue. Clear the cache or test in an incognito/private browsing window.
    2. Check user roles: Ensure that users are assigned the correct role, such as Subscriber or Viewer, to limit their access and prevent the toolbar from showing.

Let us know if the issue continues after trying these steps, and we’ll look into it further.
