Can one upgrade from a Free Account to a Personal Account without a new domain?
-
I created a free account to try out WordPress and it looks good except that I would like to suppress the ads. I’m fine with paying for a Personal Account to do so, but it looks like I have to start over with a new domain. I’d prefer to keep my current domain/theme/content and pay to get rid of ads. Is this possible? Thanks in advance to any respondents.

You don’t have to use the domain credit you get when you upgrade but it’s bundled into the price so you won’t get a discount for not using it. If you do decide to get a custom domain you won’t need to start a new blog, it will just get mapped to your existing account so you won’t lose any content or any of the theme/widget/menu options you’ve already got set up. Just make sure you’re upgrading your existing account and upgrading it rather than starting anew.

Thank you very much! The link you sent is exactly what I needed but could not find — I kept ending up in the “new account” area instead. I really appreciate your help — Brian
