Can other people view my blog without a WordPress account?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have sent the link for my blog to a couple of people, for them to have a look and proofread. I have made it public in order for them to view and sent them the address (www.storiesintime.co.uk). They are redirected to a page telling them to sign up for a WordPress account, which they do not want to do.

Does every person who wants to view need to have an account? Or have I mucked up settings in some way?

I am nervous as this blog is part of a uni assignment, so I need to make sure my tutor can access it, or I will fail, haha.

    TIA for your help.

  • Someone does not need an account on WordPress.com to see your site. It looks like your domain has a redirect via your domain registrar. The redirect goes here, which is a link to edit a page on your site.
    https://wordpress.com/page/storiestimeandstorytime.wordpress.com/home

Try giving out this link instead?
    https://storiestimeandstorytime.wordpress.com/

To properly add storiesintime.co.uk to the site, you would usually want to map it. Here’s how to map a domain to your site so the custom domain becomes the address. https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

If you really want to redirect the custom domain to the free address, use the public URL of https://storiestimeandstorytime.wordpress.com/ in the domain forwarding settings.
