Can our current domain provider create an A record to point to our website?
-
We want wordpress to host our website (daisisevon.wordpress) using our domain name Daisi.org.uk . The issue that has made this more complicated is that we are also transferring our email hosting from Heart to Eclipse. Our current domain provider (Eclipse.net) have asked if they can create an A Record pointing to our wordpress site? If so, can we have an IP address? This would ensure our emails will get to us. Many thanks

Hi arttostart,
Since your domain is currently registered through Eclipse Networking Ltd, you’ll need to follow these instructions to use the domain with your WordPress.com site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
Since the domain is not registered through WordPress.com, you’ll also need to add the A record through Eclipse Networking Ltd. We can only add A records to domains registered through WordPress.com.

Hello
Please take a look through this thread which provides relevant information regarding your question about A records.
It looks like changing the name servers is the preferred method for mapping a domain as WordPress.com IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, you will need to contact WordPress.com to find out the current IPs and then update your A records, accordingly.
With that, I have tagged this post with modlook so someone from staff can provide the most up to date IP addresses.
Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.
I hope this helps!

Howdy :)
As outlined already, the preferred method for domain mapping is with name servers. If your domain provider is unable to map with name servers then you’ll want to share these numbers with them:
192.0.78.25
192.0.78.24
I’m happy to answer any follow up questions that you may have about this information – best wishes!
