Can pre-paid cards be used when buying domains and upgrades?

Hello.
1/ Can gift cards or pre-paid Visa cards be used if someone sends me a card’s information they bought for me for my own website when buying a domain and more media storage? It wouldn’t have a person’s name on it and it’s why I wondered if they can be used.
2/ I also learned cards bought in the United States are only for purchases in the United States. Is WordPress.com HQ based in the United States?
3/ More importantly, will they know which domain I bought because they would have a way to check the balance in the card to see what I spent the card on? Would it say just WordPress.com or the domain I bought for myself?

Hi @mariahlynne2022, good question! I’m just not sure whether the gift card may have restrictions on signing up for recurring services. If they do not and the charge goes through, you’d want to be sure to update to update payment information so you can renew the domain and hosting. Otherwise, as long as the card has funds it should be fine.
Automattic owns WordPress.com, and while we are fully distributed, we’re “based” in California, so you’re okay there, too.
The credit card statement will say the purchase was through us, but won’t have line-items, so the domain name won’t be listed.
