Did some research, it seem I need to register a domain to do this? But I am seeing other comments online, and in the forum saying you can have adds on your site?
Can someone help clear this up for me?

Your feelings may not be in compliance with the terms of WordPress.COM Terms of Service and policies that you agreed to to blog here.
We allow affiliate links on WordPress.com, including from Amazon.com, but you will not be able to use the Amazon widget on a WordPress.com site. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/amazon-widget-9?replies=3#post-1882814
The blog must be an actual blog and not just a site that’s pimped out with post after post driving traffic to third party sites. Posting of some affiliate links is possible, provided the blog is an actual blog and not just a storefront. Please read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/ closely.
WordPress.com allows bloggers to insert text affiliate links within post and page content to most third-party affiliate programs, provided they are not the primary content of the site in question.
Image affiliate links in posts and pages and any banners, affiliate links in sidebar or footer widget areas, are still considered to be advertising and are not allowed on WordPress.com blogs.

Ok I see so I can use a link but not a widget. And yes my site is an actual blog. Plus I also have a dating site, which will allow affiliates so advertise off it eventually.
Thanks for the swift answering by the way.
And I see I can use adwords? If I do that I can have banners on my blog then?

No you cannot use any advertising/affiliate banners at all without having your blog suspended. No you cannot pimp out a wordpress.com blog for the purpose of driving traffic to your affiliate dating site that will also get your blog suspended. No you cannot run adwords or any other blogger initiated advertising as that also results in blog suspension.
No blogger initiated advertising is allowed on WordPress.com blogs. The only blogs that can be equipped for ecommerce are those with the $299. per year business upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/
The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains.

http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed.

There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this guide to learn about the differences.
