Can Some Chat or Talk?

    Hello, I am trying to get in touch with someone that can help us with account recovery. I can’t use the ‘chat support’ because we can’t access the account. It was created by a developer in 2018 that no longer knows what the recovery email is. So we can not access the forgot password link or complete the account recovery page. Anyone know what we can do from here to get the website back up and running?

    The most useful thing would be for you to reveal the full address of the site in question.

    We aren’t able to assist with account recovery via either the forums or live chat. That form is the only way.

    Darn, we don’t have any of the information required for the “proof of ownership” since it was created by a marketing firm & not by us. I reached out to them and they don’t know what the recovery email address would have been & don’t keep records of transaction id’s or activation links after 6 months from website launch. So we don’t have access to any of the required information. Does that mean we will have to create a whole new website from scratch?

    I’m afraid so. For security reasons, when someone wants to gain access to an account, we need to be able to verify that they are the owner.

    I confirmed that the client’s URL is still active, I just assume that the WP plan that was purchased was not renewed which is why it is down.

    Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with GoDaddy.

    Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
