Can someone help with making a rotating gif
-
Hi, I’ve made a logo which is an ambigram and I want it to be a rotating gif. Can I have that option when I make my website? Or is there a way to make one?
I don’t have photoshop and I hope you don’t need that to make it. :(

While I’m sure you could find a tutorial on how to make one (via Google), please note that our themes may not support an animated image as a logo.

Sometimes animated GIF’s can be an issue – probably some online GIF builders – I have never used them
I have made a few blinking buttons using Gimp (free / open source) image editing software – was a bit of a challenge but did get the buttons made – you can download Gimp for free

Hmm… I was planning to use the 2011 theme. Do you know if it would work on there?

What is the blog you are talking about? http:// ???
If you want an animated gif in a post or page, then it will work if it is uploaded at the exact same size as it was made. I have seen animated gifs on headers, but cannot say that they would work or not in the newer themes. My opinion only, but they seem rather outdated and un-business-like because the ones I’ve seen were 2 or more like 3 or 4 years ago. They also slow page loading time, which is likely to discourage readers with slow connections.

You know, if you put your animated gif in a text widget in your sidebar, and if you produce it and upload it in the exact size, then it should work.
My opinion above was based on the animated headers some folks thought were so great a few years ago. My eyes still hurt from the flashing sparkles, and I had a modem back then…

I haven’t made the website yet. (Sorry, I should have mentioned that). I’m not quite ready to put the website up yet but I wanna do some things to prepare in the meantime. And it’s funny you mention putting it in the header cuz that’s where I want it. The 2011 theme looks like the theme I’ll probably go with, I just wanna make sure the gif worked and I’m really new to this.

My advice to you is to sign up for a free blog, make it private, then experiment with it. It will only cost you some time, which no one except you will see, and you’ll learn more than you expect. After all, this is something you really want and you are ready to work at! I’d say go for it!

The few animated gifs I’ve done in the past, and the ones I have seen others on this forum use, they do work as long as you don’t try to change the size after they are uploaded.
