Can someone help with the overall appearance of my blog?

I am having problems with understanding the labels such as “meta” and how/what to “categorize” and what to “archive” on my blog, and how or where do I put and arrange things on my site. Perhaps, for what I wish to accomplish for my blog site, I may need to upgrade to a premium account but I am not sure if I even need to do that. It would be helpful to speak with someone, telling them what I want to achieve with my site, and then be consulted which template might work best for me, and the best course of action to take for constructing my site. In short, my blog and how it is presently arranged isn’t how I want it, I’m confused by the terminology, and I’m unsure if the template I am using is conducive to what I wish to accomplish with my blog.

I’ll try to help. The default setting for the side bar includes several different ways to display posts, and often repeats information. So, I often clean up the sidebar. Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Archives, Categories and Meta are all Widgets and can be taken off if you want.
Posts are archived automatically by date. WordPress generates a folder for every month a post is made, even if there’s only one post for that month. I find that unnecessary and a poor way to display information, so I usually take off the Archives widget.
Posts are not automatically given a Category, however, the default is Uncategorized. The user has to create additional, specific and useful Category titles for their blogs and then select it for each post. You can do this in draft or after it’s been published in edit.
You only have one post right now. I recommend most folks create some content, ie: more posts, before they get too concerned about design. Then, when you have some content to play with, you’ll be able to better see how each theme displays information. Figure out your main 3-5 topics you want to write about and then create Categories for them. As you make posts, Tag them and Categorize them.
You can view one of my blogs here to see how I’ve taken off some widgets and added others to create a sidebar more to my liking. It may or may not be what you’re after. Hint: the title called The Archives is actually the Category widget, but renamed.
