Can someone please help? Only one without an answer…

    I’ve since tried some code in the Editor but the background color still isn’t changing:

    body {
    background-color:#80000;
    }

    Actually tried 2 variations on the above but no luck.

    Hi All,

    Newbie here.

    Winter Solstice is a child theme of parent theme “Twenty Seventeen”.

    Does that mean that I can make my css edits to “Winter Solstice” directly without worrying about losing them if updates occur? I installed Child Themify plugin but it won’t let me pick “Winter Solstice”, only 2017, 2016 and 2015 as parents. I suppose that’s because Winter Solstice is already a child theme?

    Also, I’ve come to conclude from watching more than a few YT vids that editing CSS directly in the editor is best way to customize? Or are there all-in-one plugins that can really help? I tried SiteOrigins CSS and it was a bit dodgy.

    Yes. Using a child theme affords you this oppurtunity.

    Also, there are several ways of customizing your website, You may decide to use the “Customize” option (From your dashboard, mouse over “appearance” and click on Customize) depending on the theme you are using, you should be able to customize your page. You also can do this by adding custom CSS via the “customize tab” or by the use of a plugin (there are many of them out there).

    Let me know if this works.

    Thank you much for your reply, appreciate it. I was aware of the wordpress.org help forum, and was even going to post there, but then saw that most of the requests went unanswered… figured I’d have a better chance here.

    With the Winter Solstice theme, the customize only offers light (white) and dark (black), not a choice of colors. I’ve tried adding CSS but the site is not updating. Tried using SiteOrigin CSS plugin but the theme doesn’t change, after saving and checking appearance.

    Pretty frustrating. Had I know that even .org was this limited, I wouldn’t have signed up…
