Can the "Author" role upload pdf's and other documents in their posts?

  I named Amy as a “Author” to enable her to post messages on my WordPress.com blog. However, she cannot upload any pdf files. She sees no provision for doing so. She can only add text and add URL links for videos and other sites and upload photos. Are “Authors” in fact prevented from uploading documents such as pdf’s and MS Word Documents? Thanks.

  An author is allowed to upload files as well as images.

  It is how you upload PDF and other files

  Yes, they can. Contributors can’t though, they can only add text.
