can the IP adress be wrong?

i am very sad i am an admin at my freind blog and ive checked comments and ive found the same IP adress at my comment and some other guy comment
i dont know what to do a few days ago (or it was yesterday)
ive reported wordpress about a hacker and you answered me now what ive found out that his IP adress match mine!
what can i do? ive never hacked someone in wordpress!there is a chance that it is wrong or something?
help im very sad….. -
Not all IP addresses are unique. If you’re on dialup, you get a different IP every time you sign on; the service has got a number of them, and you get one assigned randomly when you sign on.

so you mean the IP adress is not the computer IP adress?
and there is an way the IP adress be the same?
i am an admin and i saw my IP adress same as another wordpress registered member so it can be twice? -
IP adresses aren’t all unique indeed. For instance, university is giving all students a dsl connection at our dorms. We have an intern IP (so diffrent if you stay in your network) but our IP to the outer world is the same (or almost, think there are a couple diffrent ones).
Also some poeple surf with proxies, they can also have a matching IP adress.

Your ISP Internetserviceprovider, gives you an IP number when you´re at internet. Some have dynamic and some changes everytime you log in.
It also depend of what kind of internetcnnection you have. Schools, companys etc. may have the same ip, but for identification a cumputer number along with the ip.That is not the same as a mac number, that number is unic for every computer.
WP does not give you any IP

Yes, I notice that sometimes it doesn’t get the correct IP address.
In particular I found that a whopping 30% of comments come from a layertech IP address.
